The
house is a spacious two-story handmade adobe with a sunroom that
provides pleasant warmth throughout the year. Two-foot thick adobe
walls downstairs make for gracious curved corners and deep window
openings as well as a lovely ambience, cool during the heat of
day and warm at night as the mountain chill settles in.
The
ground floor features a large fully equipped kitchen with a wood
stove and a beautifully appointed living room, with a painting
studio in the sunroom. The two bedrooms upstairs are tucked cozily
under the steep-pitched roof, each with beautiful views of the
surrounding wilderness landscape.
Of
particular note are the expansive bathroom with a breath-taking
view to the north and the thunderstorm/night-sky observatory room
at the top of
the stairs, with a 200 degree view over the treetops and up the
canyon. Custom woodwork features throughout, from the pine-plank
trestle table and cherry-wood cabinets in the kitchen to the red
fir ceiling and four-post oak bed in the master bedroom give the
house a warm, handmade personality.
