...to
the quiet splendor of El Rito Canyon. |
Relax
and rejuvenate in our lovely riverside adobe home. Hike or ski the
canyon and the surrounding Carson National Forest, fish in El Rito
Creek for native cutthroat trout, or tour the spectacular countryside.
Just an hour north of Santa Fe, set between Abiquiu (Georgia O'Keeffe
country) to the west and the Ojo Caliente Mineral Hot Springs to
the east, El Rito is a small farming village settled in the 1700s
by Spanish colonists.

El
Rito Canyon Retreat lies at an elevation of 7300 feet, at the
very base of the great San Juan Mountains, the backbone of the
Rockies. You turn down the driveway, cross the creek on a small
bridge, through a copse of cottonwood, oak and locust trees, and
there you are.
The
house is a spacious two-story handmade adobe with a sunroom that
provides pleasant warmth throughout the year. El Rito has two
bedrooms, sunroom, painting studio and a large, fully-equipped
kitchen. At the top of the stairs, the thunderstorm/night sky
observatory offers a 200-degree view over the treetops and up
the canyon. Custom woodwork features throughout.
We
invite you to take comfort in the nurturing beauty of this home
and its surroundings.
